West Coast Swing Extrême
with Erik Novoa & Marine Fabre
Saturday, December 20, 2025
Norwalk, CT
12:00 - 3:45pm - Privates with Marine
4:00 - 8:00pm - Workshops
8:00 - 11:00pm - Social Dance Night
This special event is featuring two of the elusive extremes of West Coast Swing—blues and groove. While it easiest to dance West Coast Swing to moderate-tempo pop music, many dancers are often challenged when they hear blues (with a strong swing rhythm) and groovy contemporary music (with a weak rhythmic structure). The last workshop of the evening will keep your swing knowledge up-to-date with some of the most prominent moves of 2025.

In this workshop, we'll be breaking down the essential aspects of dancing to blues music. This is an important workshop because of how central blues music is to West Coast Swing and how it is often used in competitions.
5:00pm - December Grooves
Learning to groove to music is often one of the most challenging aspects of West Coast Swing because it breaks the structural simplicity of most patterns. This workshop is designed to give you the ability to use moves that groove to your advantage.

Marine Fabre

From a background of gymnastics and hip hop, Marine’s swing-dancing journey began with Lindy Hop in 2006—but West Coast Swing quickly stole her heart when she discovered it in 2008. She soon began teaching, running workshops, and organizing events in her hometown of Montreal, Canada.
In 2012, Marine moved to California to pursue competitive dancing, reaching the All-Star level and performing in the Showcase division. Along the way, she co-founded the SwayD dance shoe brand, launching the first dance boots to hit the scene. She later branched out to build her own independent line, Marine Lauren (marinelaurenshoes.com).
Her dance adventures have since taken her through the Pacific Northwest, and she recently returned to the East Coast to be closer to family. Marine is excited to meet and dance with the Southern Connecticut community!
